after looking through some of my last trip images, I found out that there are many of them from waterfalls, coastal views and countryside landscapes. Waterscapes are my favorite subjects so far.

After I found a spot that I liked, I revisited the area many times until I see how it looks in different seasons and time of the day. Pecan Grove Picnic area is one of them. I go there in the mornings and evenings for new views. I took these three pictures with a Nikon D80, Nikkor 28-70mm lens and a Singh-Ray polarizing filter.

This is a big picture of the area I want to photograph. F8, ISO 100, 28-70mm lenses @35. Then, I choose a feature (the grass and cloud's reflection). Finally, I close uo of it.

Water Lilies in Pecan Grove Picnic area

Like a scene of a story book, water lilies in Lake Murray are a delight to the eye. I visited this park many times but this year it is the first time I have seen the water lilies blooming. I keep visiting this small area for new images of the lilies almost every day. Cypress trees, cattails and birds surround the water lilies. Here are some images I took with my Nikon D700 and Nikkor 70-300 mm lenses, Singh-Ray LB polarizing filter and tripod.

Revisiting Pecan Grove Picnic Area

This park is located in the Lake Murray area. My son and I have gone many times this summer because of its peaceful environment. I specially like the cypress trees and the water lilies. So this morning we went there and these are the images I got. I used my Nikon D700 and Nikkor 70-300 mm lenses for the close-ups.

Return form a visit to Panama

It has been three weeks that I was back from my native country Panama. The trip was very interesting this time because I visited places that I never saw before. Moreover, I was able to see my relatives and friends.
One of my favorites places is the beaches of the Pacific coast. I love to revisit them every trip.

Here are some of the images I took with my new camera Nikon D700. I was very happy with the results.

Visiting the Lavender Ridge farms in Gainesville

What a nice place! I visited the Lavender Farms today. It is a wonderful place full of colors and nature. Great friendly atmospher and nice people received us there. I took pictures in their gardens, barns and surrounding areas of the farm. They open at 9 :00 a.m and I stayed until 1:30 p.m. Many flowers and butterflies in the gardens.

Remembering the Old Days

One of things I like about living in the country is that you can find great scenes. I went to Tishomingo yesterday morning and I saw this old tractor in an old barn on highway 1. Here are some of the images.

Indian Blanket Wildflowers in Lake Scott

It was a beautiful morning near Scott Lake. I went with my dogs for a walk and I found a field full of Indian Blanket. I love their vivid colors and details.

It is another beautiful, calm and clear day at the park. The water is still low but the trees and the area are green. The sky had these big clouds and I saw one reflected on the pool . What a wonderful day!

New Look of Pauls Valley

I lived in Pauls Valley for a year and I still visit it. The city has changed its look.
It has new sidewalks, new lamps, new everything. Well, I know I am excited with the new look.

Visiting Muskogee's Honor Heights Park

Honor Heights is a beautiful park in the city of Muskogee. I had the great opportunity to meet another photographer there and photographed some of parks' ponds and gardens. This is a place where people gather every year to celebrate the Azalea festival. I think it is better to go middle of April when the park has a lot of blooms and the trees are full of flowers.

Spring in the Travertine Creek Area

It was a cloudy day today. I think the perfect day for photographing wildflowers and waterfalls. I decided to go to Sulphur and see the surrounding areas of the creek. I found many yellow wildflowers and I took some pictures near the Lincoln Bridge. My dogs Munchi and Spikey went with me. Of course they were not happy when I stopped and took the pictures. Around midday, the wind started blowing stronger and the fun was over.

I went to Marietta yesterday and I found a small open field full of beautiful flowers. It was around 7:30 p.m and the light was very soft and warm. I used my Nikkor 50mm lenses and 18-200 mm lenses for the close and macro images. I noticed that some of the tulips were dead because someone stepped over them. I will go back next week and see if I can get more images.

Exploring a city...

I love exploring a city on foot, with my camera in hand. This is Ardmore...A city I moved in June and I started to learn more about its history and interesting past.

With a walking Tour map as a helpful tool, I started the tour in the Central Park where you can find a Pavilion. This pavilion was dedicated in 1987 at Ardmore's Centennial Celebration. Then, you see the downtown Ardmore with all its historical buildings like First Mehodist church, First National bank, Carter County Court House among of them.

My Favorite Landscapes of 2009

I moved to Ardmore, Oklahoma in June 2009. Almost immediately I was fascinated with the lakes and landscapes of the area. I spent many mornings waiting for the right light and mood for my images. Moreover, I had the opportunity to go in fall to Arkansas and took some pictures in the Jasper area. Here are some of my favorite images.

Today, I went to the town of Woodford. It is located near Ardmore on highway 53. I wanted to see Montain Lake but it was closed. So Mary and I decided to go around and see what we could find. We took pictures of a creek near a farm, horses and beautiful trees. Here are some of them.

Turner Falls Park, the oldest park in Oklahoma, has been visited for many people in different seasons. It has a seventy seven foot fall to a natural swimming pool. This cascade makes the majestic Turner Falls. It is considered the largest waterfalls in Oklahoma and in the pictures you can see why. This park is located in Davis, Oklahoma.

Today, I went to Ardmore Regional Park with the camera club to phography in a Hay Field. We wanted to take advantage of this theme to develop our images. Having a theme in mind will help us to be focus on our project. We spent about two hours in the place and found that the rolls where everywhere. Here are some of them in sepia.

One of the closest lakes in Ardmore is Lake Murray. After the rain we had, the trees lost their fall colors and turned brown very quickly. I went to visit the fishing pier and took some pictures of the surrounding area.

Early morning, my son and I went to the lake. There were two fishermen leaving the dock . I wanted to take pictures of the mist over the lake this morning. It was very dark when we arrived but beautiful. A light breeze and cool temperature ...it was a wonderful scenery.

Twigs

When I see this image, I think about how things can be confusing and complicated in life. Sometimes it seems that everything is mixed of in our daily life like these twigs.

I took this picture in the Lake Murray yesterday. It was a cool morning with clouds and sunbeams. I walked around and near the marine I saw twigs on the ground. At first I was amazed ot the beautiful colors on the grass at the background, but the twigs where right there...almost like telling me that we can find good and bad situations in life and we always can manage them with faith.

I love sunbeams because I find they're beautiful and amazing. It is that they have something magical and divine. This morning I took some pictures at Lake Murray near the marine. The clouds were full and the they just let a ray of light went through.

When I see these steps, I remember all the good days I had this summer in this park. The first day I took my son who is eight years old to swim in the cool water of the Travertine Creek. It was a warm day and we wanted to spend the whole day in the park. We packed our lunch and drinks...the dogs. But we soon realized that we had forgotten the inner tube to go down the current.

My son was sad about it. I told him we would not leave instead I drove to the closer Walmart and bought a new inner tube for him.

We had so much fun that day. It is amazing how a picture can capture so much.:)

Magical World

I love reflections and abstract in nature. While I was in the forest yesterday morning, I found a nice place near the camping ground with some trees and flowers' reflections. I had not been in this area before because the park was very busy and I like quite places for photography. But, yesterday was different. People returned to their normal activities and the park was quite.
I set up my Nikon D80 on a tripod and a 70-300 mm lenses. The soft light from the morning sun made the place magical. Running with the water down the waterfall, there were dead leaves and branches. What a wonderful world!

Visiting the Arbuckle Lake in Sulphur

This morning I wanted to take pictures of the sunrise at the Arbuckle Lake so I left my house around 6:45 a.m. This lake is located less than a two hour drive from both the Dallas and Oklahoma City areas. But , of course, for me it is about 25 minutes from home on highway 35.
The weather was great...cool and clear. However, I checked the sunrise time on the internet ...one more time. I usually use http://www.sunrisesunset.com/ or www.cmpsolv.com/los/sunset.html . The information said that the sunrise would be around 7:20 a.m so I had to hurry if I wanted to be in the lake on time.
Since I liked to take scenic view of the lake, I took my Nikkor 18-200mm lenses and my Nikon D200. To avoid reflection, I used a polarizing filter.
By the time I arrived, there were three fishermen in the marina. I saw some birds and the rest of the lake was very quiet.

Another mystical day in the lake, the morning was cool and the light was perfect. Now, I can see that fall is coming and there are more colors in the lake.

Walking around a park near a forest, I saw how the grass has changed because fall is coming.

Since we have a windy day today, I was in the mood of panning in camera shots. This effect creates an impressionistic look.

The Monarch Butterfly

One of the most difficult animals to photograph is a butterfly. I went to Lake Pauls Valley this morning and I was overwhelmed with the variety of butterflies in there. I found a cluster of nectar flowers and took these pictures. I think the best time to photograph butterflies is early morning because these were very active around 10:30 a.m, and I had to follow them every flower. I waited patiently until they stopped on a side of the flower to take the picture.

Now that we have fall coming soon...It has been raining for three days and very windy. I went to Lake Jean for more wildflowers photos. However, the windy was very strong so I decided to lower my shutter speed and create impressionistic flower artwork.

I went to Lake Jean today. It is located 20 minutes from where I live. The weather was nice...cool and cloudy. I think it is perfect light for flower photography specially for macro. I used a 100 macro lenses and my Nikon D200. It was a little bit windy so I had my tripod and cable release.

I like trees and movement. Since I wanted to make a new way to see trees, I went to Longmire Lake in Pauls Valley and took pictures of trees in winter. I moved the camera up and down and added colors using Photoshop CS3.

If you look around the lakes and creeks and the landscapes , you will see that everything is still very green. The rain has come this weekend and it is vey wet. I went to the park last week and took some pictures in the morning. It was very quiet and beautiful. Enjoy them!

Chickasaw National Recreation Area

Oklahoma's Oldest National Park is located in Sulphur, OKlahoma. I have visited this park several times with my son this summer. As it is called " Peaceful Valley of Rippling Waters", you can find small waterfalls, creek and wildife.

My son and I took the dogs with us and walked in one of the trails last week. It was quite an adventure.
